HSKoS EP 7 - Night
There’s lots more relationship drama and laughs coming our way. Min Suk’s feelings grow, as does his jealousy over Soo Young and Jin Woo spending time together. Soo Young shows her kind and thoughtful nature again, and there are some cracks in the cold mask Jin Woo wears. His family and childhood are brought into the light, and there are some much need revelations regarding his character. Min Suk takes another big step towards Soo Young, while Yoo Ah continues to gain more sympathy. Who should we ship at this point in the story?
High School Of King Episode 7.
HSKoS EP 7 - Girl hug
With the start of this episode, we flash back to Min Suk walking up behind Soo Young while talking to her on the phone. He reaches her and says there’s one last question he needs to have answered. So he hugs her. I’ve always found this hugging thing a little weird, but I guess that’s part of their culture. I don’t know anyone personally who would go hug someone to sort out their feelings for them. “I got the answer. I’ll see you at work tomorrow,” he says nonchalantly afterwards.
At the Jung household, Yoo Ah is sad as he looks at a picture of Min Suk on her phone. Aww, she’s telling herself she needs to be more understanding of what he’s going through. But then Soo Young comes back and now I feel even more sad. I don’t know who to ship. Both the girls are so adorable. Soo Young is still confused and decides to try hugging Yoo Ah for ten seconds. She wonders what question Min Suk could have answered by hugging her. Gee, it’s a mystery. Soo Young takes her obliviousness to new levels.
HSKoS EP 7 - Whoa
At school the next day, Min Suk has left a dummy replacement in class again but the teacher calls him out for sleeping. He goes to wake him up but the two awesome friends cover for him. Arriving at work, Soo Young and Min Suk run into each other outside. Soo Young starts explaining that she’s not prejudiced, and she can understand why Min Suk would feel that way. She should have known when Min Suk said Director Yoo was handsome even from a man’s perspective, and that she didn’t know that Min Suk saw her as a rival. Hahahaha she totally thinks he’s gay. Min Suk looks shocked and confused. He’s incredulous as she affirms her suspicions about him. Seeing his reaction, Soo Young realizes she made a mistake but can’t understand his reason for hugging her then. Finally she sees that the real reason was that he likes her, but she says she can’t work for him if that’s the case, as she would feel uncomfortable.
Min Suk quickly backtracks and tells her that it was a gesture of making up. She looks doubtful, so he talks about Germany and how it’s normal to hug people there. When she still doesn’t seem to buy it he sees one of the other female workers from the Retail Team and hugs her to prove it. Soo Young just shrugs and moves on.
When they get to the office, Min Suk goes further and hugs half of the office. He tells everyone he was thinking of his days in Germany, when he used to greet people as such. His laughter is almost deranged.
HSKoS EP 7 - Mother son
Jin Woo goes to visit his mother at the rehabilitation center. It’s a sweet little scene that shows the better side of Jin Woo. He also flashes back to when he was a child and his father was breaking everything in sight and shoving his mother away. Watching them as a kid, he couldn’t control his bladder. No wonder this guy is messed up. The nurses tell him that his mother tends to throw up after she eats and looks for alcohol when she wakes up at night. Returning to work, he meets his father in the elevator. He asks him if he’d like to go out to eat, but his father replies, “We don’t have a good relationship as is. Why bother eating together?” Wow, harsh. I’m really hating his father. Especially when a teary-eyed Jin Woo asks him to see his mother once, since she’s getting worse, and the father replies that he has nothing to do with her now.
Jin Woo holds his chest as he walks out of the elevator and hides some pills when he runs into Soo Young. She sees that he looks sicks and decides to leave some porridge at his house. After receiving a text about it, Jin Woo finds the porridge in a bag hanging for the door handle. He quickly runs outside and tries to convince Soo Young to come up and have some tea. Flustered, she declines and backs away, only to run into a car and have it start blaring an alarm. They hear someone yelling in the distance and Soo Young grabs Jin Woo and drags him behind a car to hide.
HSKoS EP 7 - Tea
Jin Woo points out that apparently Soo Young didn’t think to just apologize and say it was a mistake. She laughs and then notices that Jin Woo has stepped in dog poop. He freaks out a little and kicks his shoe off so it goes flying. Soo Young giggles and goes to wipe it off for him. Jin Woo looks a little sick and she tries scraping it off and keeps telling her to throw it away. Oh my gosh, Jin Woo is hilarious as he hops towards the building on one foot.
Jin Woo makes them tea and Soo Young sees a birthday card on his table. She offers to treat him to dinner on his birthday, as he has no plans to do anything. He agrees and Soo Young leaves smiling. Jin Woo has his own little smile as he goes to eat some of the porridge, only to have it slosh out looking pretty unappetizing. Yet, Jin Woo looks as if Soo Young’s heart and kindness are slowly getting to him.
HSKoS EP 7 - Help
Yoo Ah goes into the locker room, to some unmanly squeaks, to wish Min Suk good luck before the game. He isn’t there, but she sees his worn out skates and looks a little sad. Celebrating a victory with his team afterwards, Min Suk realizes that the practice that weekend will clash with his work duties. He manages to convince the coach to let them have the weekend off. Though he doesn’t do a good job trying to lie to his Dad about having hockey training on the weekend.
The awesome friends are talking about enjoying their free weekend when they spot Yoo Ah handing out flyers. They assume that she must have gotten a job to help Min Suk. After all, they did tell her that Min Suk’s family had gone bankrupt and he’d been forced to get a part-time job to help. Feeling guilty, the two help Yoo Ah get lots more customers and she smiles gratefully.
HSKoS EP 7 - Car ride
The Retail team is on the bus, but stop briefly for a break. Soo Young gets off to go to the bathroom and comes across two children who are lost. Of course, she has to help them find their parents. However, the bus is ready to go and they assume the lump on the seat is Soo Young sleeping and leave. It’s only when they get to their destination that they realize they’ve left Soo Young. Jin Woo offers to get her and Min Suk is quick to tag along. While driving, they have a petty fight over whether the window should be up or down. Really now. These two.
At the team outing, they start playing foot volleyball. Did not know that was a thing. Soo Young sees Min Suk and Jin Woo arrive. Relieved, Soo Young jogs over to Jin Woo, completely passing Min Suk. Min Suk buts his way in between and starts yelling at Soo Young. When they’re about to get in the car, Jin Woo insists that Soo Young sit in the front while Min Suk commands her to sit in the back. Eventually, Soo Young decides to drive while making the two of them sit in the back.
HSKoS EP 7 - Walk
Yoo Ah finishes her job and confronts the two awesome friends. She wants to know which of them likes her, since that’s the only reason they would have helped. Tae Suk ends up taking the fall and Yoo Ah just tells him not to tell Min Suk about his feelings and get over it. Ha.
At the retreat, everyone’s having fun dancing and singing while eating a meal. Jin Woo gets a call from his detective contact. He finds out that Hyung Suk was spotted at symposium after he’d already come to Comfo and that he was known for having a cold and antisocial personality. Jin Woo sits off to the side, contemplating Min Suk’s intentions. Soo Young finds him and he suggests they go on a walk together. At first I found Soo Young’s habit of covering her mouth when she’s embarrassed endearing, but now I’m starting to get a little irritated by it.
Min Suk sees them from a distance. When Jin Woo leaves to get her a jacket, Min Suk leaps in. He uses her position as secretary to get her to go with him. Jin Woo returns with a jacket only to find the road empty. Min Suk and Soo Young walk together. He tries to ask her about dating a younger man, while she’s preoccupied with the bugs that are making sounds. Min Suk is adorable and keeps scaring her by saying the bugs right there, just so she’ll jump into his arms.
HSKoS EP 7 - Bday
The next day, Min Suk takes a ride in the President’s car. After he gets dropped off, the President is leaving when he sees Min Suk’s Dad and tells the driver to stop. Oh man, he recognizes the Dad. I have no idea what that means.
Soo Young sneaks off with Jin Woo and they have the birthday dinner. For a present, he asks her for a favor: look at what kind of emails Min Suk receives. Soo Young rightly refuses, and Jin Woo asks why. He mentions that when she got fired Min Suk was really annoying towards him and wonders if the two of them are in a relationship. When she tries to leave, Jin Woo makes it clear that it was not a request and that he could get her fired again.
Soo Young leaves, looking heartbroken, but I’m glad she’s finally learned the truth. Jin Woo gets the obligatory shower scene and when he gets out Min Suk calls him. While on the phone, Soo Young comes back to his apartment. She tells him off and calls him a bastard while Min Suk hears everything on the phone. Min Suk runs off and finds her. She remembers all of his warnings about Jin Woo but asks why he never told her directly about Jin Woo firing her. Min Suk says he knows why now, and he KISSES HER.
